Canines we've trained

Meet the Working Canines we have trained.

Our approach is based off of how service dogs are raised and trained. Guide dogs & service dogs have been around for a long time, which has led to well established programs. We follow their structures and protocols for puppy raising and task training.

The goal:

Regardless of whether a canine is in our Sport or Working program, all canines undergo a rigorous Socialization and Exposure program prior to Task Training. A physically, mentally and emotionally sound dog is a successful dog.

Building:

Confidence
Trust
Love of play
Desire to work
Adaptability

Focus on:

Temperament testing
Physical exams & consultations with vets
Socialization and Exposure program
Finding the right job for the canine
Exceptional manners
Elite Skill & Task training specific to the job

How we ensure success:

We want to "stack the deck" in our favour, so to speak.
This is how we do that:

Consistency
Patience
Getting to know the canine & understanding its likes + dislikes

How to motivate the canines:

Making sure the dogs have a balance of work & play
Quality nutrition
Enrichment
Fitness training to reduce injury & increase endurance for their job
Love

Image of Puck in the snow

Puck

The muscle with a powerful nose, laid back yet Mr. Opinionated.

Age: 2 years

Breed: Redbone Coonhound cross

Trained in: Discriminant Scent Trailing

Career: well loved pet.

Puck was Career Changed and adopted to a wonderful family in Winnipeg,
Manitoba. Discriminant Scent Trailing was not a job he was interested in and we strongly believe that canines should love their job and not be forced to work!

Shadow

The class clown, the highest jumper we've seen yet (Resident Tigger), and a heart of gold

Age: 3 years

Breed: Black Labrador

Trained in: Working Canine Socialization and Exposure
Career: working Service Dog (Mobility).
